Australian artist Maple Glider has been one of my favourite finds of 2023 and now she's only gone and dropped a double A-side single. The first of this pair of beauties is 'You're Gonna Be A Daddy' which essentially sounds like gender reveal song that Flight of the Conchords would have written with Phoebe Buffay and it is delightful - like a gentle lullaby but being sung to you by the enthralling stranger you just met at your neighbour's party. The other half of the single, 'You At The Top Of the Driveway', is one of the sweetest and most tenderly delicate songs I've ever had the privilege to let float in to my ears like the distant sound of sea washing over pebbles. And then it finishes with a big ol' jazz thrash crescendo.....not really, the peace is beautiful and unbreakable.
