Of all the orchestral instruments, there has always been a special place in my heart for the cello so I was excited to recieve this track from Alexis Castrogiovanni, a cellist of some note. 'Ex-Girl' opens with low picked notes and a scattered beat laying the ground for Castrogiovanni to unleash her dusky, smoky Jazz inspired vocal. This is music to move to, whether you want to or not, but when the sax comes flooding in like a tsunami it kind of blows you away. Fans of Tori Amos, Regina Spektor and PJ Harvey who are also partial to a little expressive Jazz will absolutely adore this.
