Brent Cobb might, on the surface, come across as a country artist and recording in Nashville’s famous RCA Studio A won’t do much to dispel that misconception but there’s more to it than that. New single ‘Mornin’s Gonna Come’ is tinged with country but the acoustic twang speaks more of deep south blues strummers while the backing vocals are pure gospel and the vibe is indie-rock. By the time the coda comes around and the tambourine player hits his or her stride this is full on Blues Brothers stuff and the furious organ notes just push this on to another level. For a song about the morning after the night before this has a great vibe about it and you can’t help but bob your head along in time with the groove. Perfect for festival season, don’t say I didn’t warn you (and don’t say Brent Cobb didn’t warn you about tomorrow morning either).
