This might be a first for this blog as I'm not sure I've ever had any music from Malta to review which is a shame based on this offering from Alexandra Alden. 'Magnolia' opens with soft and warming acoustic notes nudged along by a shuffling beat brushed out on the snare. Alden's smooth and soothing lullaby of a voice joins in and that's as complicated as it gets but this is one of those songs that shows its beauty through simplicity. A mixture of folk arrangements and pop melodies bring the heart of this song to the fore and it is the perfect sound for Spring time so open the windows and enjoy this one.
