WTSN - I Do This Because...

London based talent WTSN has dropped this nine track collection and if you're into fresh new hip-hop and RnB from the UK then this might just be worth your time. 'I Do This Because...' kicks off with 'New Leaf', a classy, string-infused jam that is perfect for getting your mind in the right space before a night out. Then there's 'Legacy' which delivers a rapid flow over some laid back beats and melodies that put me in mind of the Avalanches before 'Uptown' takes us to a more Latin inspired space with fluttering flutes, percussion and sparse piano stabs underpinning WTSN's understated vocal delivery.
'I Do This Because...' is a calling card for a passionate musician with jazz pianos, gorgeous horns and the kind of beat that really comes out of left field but, well, just works brilliantly. On 'Rare Soul' WTSN transports us to a hot summer's evening with people trying to get a bit of breeze hanging out of windows and enjoying the super-chill vibes being dished up. I think 'Sit Back' is my favourite track on this collection as it builds with subtle beats and late-80s inspired keys providing the perfect platform for WTSN to roll across like the coolest cat in the house.
This collection ends with 'Whole Piece' which is listed as a bonus track but finishes off the experience perfectly with another hypnotic, jazz inspired melody and beats that get your head bobbing straight away. I don't know a whole lot about WTSN but sometimes that's the best way to discover a new artist to let the music do the talking - and this guy's music has a lot to say.
