It might sound like the title of a cat based Harry Potter spin-off but 'The Curse Of Eternal Contentment' is actually the new single from the consistently impressive Emily Gray. The familiar strum of an electro-acoustic guitar is matched with near spoken vocals delivered with a rapidity that puts me in mind of the excellent Samantics and vocals harmonies reminiscent Sound of the Sirens. The lyrics that tackle the idea of a world that has never known pain and, therefore, doesn't appreciate the good times is an original story to tell and I'm all for that. Altogether now, "you can't enjoy the sunshine without rain".
