WILD FENN - EP REVIEW

Wild Fenn - Lost In Another Song EP

Release Date: Out Now

Devon collective dropped this six track EP at the end of September so apologies for my tardiness but 'Lost In Another Song' is well wroth waiting for. The collection opens up with 'Wild Hearts', a gentle, folky, travelling song that reeks of Dartmoor air and the kind of wind that leaves you with a sting in the cheeks as the vocal harmonies call you into the local inn. 'South Coast' is altogether more perky with strident acoustic strum given a sense of whimsy with some gorgeous vocals from Jess Illingworth making you want to up sticks and go adventuring.

On 'Above the Water', Luke Engels takes vocal duties with a warmth and raw honesty that makes you feel like you're at home as the delicate acoustic strum is given some flesh by the bass and drums combination. 'Through November' is a heartwarming slice of storytelling that swells with incredible vocal harmonies before 'Fearless Parade' straps on a Mandolin and ushers you down to the harbour to sing a heartwarming shanty for the returning fishermen. The EP finishes up with 'Ghost in the Wild', a hugely accomplished slice of indie-folk songwriting that would be very much at home on the Radio 2 playlist. Wild Fenn, then. Certainly the real deal and very much an addictive flavour that keeps you coming back for more.
