SCARLET REBELS - SINGLE REVIEW

Scarlet Rebels - Divide & Conquer (Earache
Records)

Release Date: Out Now

With the UK General Election less than a month away, I'm glad that there are some politically charged songs coming my way and even more glad that the first one is defiantly anti-Tory. Welsh quartet Scarlet Rebels aren't exactly punks to look at but their new single 'Divide & Conquer' is bristling with anger, injustice and a strong sense of fight so they've definitely got the punk spirit in them. Searing, almost celtic guitars get things going with a Crazy Arm meets Frank Turner vibe as the band call the government out on everything from food banks and doctor waiting times to the Eton/Oxbridge nepotism of the leadership merry-go-round. This is big, cocksure rock'n'roll with one leather boot firmly on the monitor and sweat dripping from the long locks but there is purpose, anger and focus here which makes it all the more powerful. See you on the front line lads.
