It's not often I manage to get a review out bang on release day but, more by accident than design, I've managed it with the new single from Cornish outfit Idle Tongues. The Padstow based quartet release 'SIKE' today and the hypnotic vocal of front woman Natalie Allen grabs your attention straight away before the crunching wall of guitars and thumping drums join in. There's a swampy, bluesy quality to this track speaks of the deep south bayou musical traditions but with a very crisp and, dare I say, British rock production quality to it. This is an exciting new release from an exciting new band so, yeah, I'm excited.
