I always keep an eye out for new releases from the Steel City because Sheffield was my adopted home for a while and it reliably produces great talent. Caleb Francis, the latest artist to come out of Sheffield, releases his new debut single 'Only Nineteen' on an unsuspecting world ahead of a string of dates around some great venues. Musically, the song hums and buzzes in to life with dystopian energy before clarity breaks out and Francis steps in to a moody, indie spot-light with a loosened tie around his neck and a glint in his eye. The vocals are funneled through some heavy effects but the rest of this is raw indie rock with a swagger and more than a hint of mischief. Definitely one to keep an eye on in 2024.
