The email that accompanied this release describes this song as 'the most unique song of 2023' and while this is a pretty bold claim, I don't think they're too far wide of the mark. 'Cheetah' is the new release from duo the Derevolutions hangs around a lurching bass line and a hypnotic piano melody which takes me back to the big-beat era of the 90s but with a California lo-fi vibe and the energy of the Dandy Warhols being remixed by Deejay Punk-Roc. The whole thing goes on for five minutes and is full of highly sample-friendly nuggets that could find their way on to Tik-Tok or adverts before too long. This isn't the last you've heard of this song, mark my words.
