So this the next phase of the UPSAHL legend as 'The PHX Tapes', named after her hometown of Phoenix, hit hard with a couple of tracks for your pleasure. Things kick off with 'Good Girl Era' which finds UPSAHL living the life of a saint but feeling only half alive for all the juices, pilates and detoxes so she's heading out there to get her party on because "I'm bad at being good and now I'm over it". Snappy beats, infectious guitar riffs and the kind of melodies that will have you dancing around with a sass in your step before you know it. 'Condoms' follows on with layered up vocals and not much else until the track crackles in to life and the lyrics "I keep wearing condoms around my heart" reveal a vulnerability behind the assured frontage. There is more to come from UPSAHL, there always is, but it always comes with a kick and that is what makes her so brilliant.
