Consistency might not be the sexiest quality to attribute to a musician but when it is combined with quality of songwriting then it starts to get a little more interesting. Tina Boonstra has been championed by this humble blog for a fair while now because of that combination of quality and consistency which brings us to her new single, 'Why Do Good Times Fly?'. Delicate vocals and an almost-absent acoustic guitar melody start things off with the meekest flicker of light before shafts of sun come streaming in through the window for the chorus. Sure, this song is steeped in regret and remembering times gone by, but there is hope in Boonstra's pure vocal and if the melodies don't lift your spirit up then you may be beyond hope....musically speaking.
