Something a little bit different for you now, dear readers, as art-pop duo the Vanity Project bring new single 'Earthbound' to the table for our delectation. There's a wonderfully lo-fi vibe in the verse that reminds me of Whitetown but with a more squelchy pop sound but the chorus is so rich, layered and joyous that it's hard not to get swept up in the twin vocals and unexpected instrumentation. "Get me out of this out of this home sweet home" they sing like they are performing the theme tune to the latest edgy American comedy-drama on Netflix which, believe it or not, is actually a compliment. I'd love to hear this performed live so I guess I'm going to need to open a Gothic comic shop in Cornwall so they can come and play in their natural habitat.
