Welsh quartet Telgate release new single 'Gammon' on an unsuspecting public and, just in case you were wondering, this is not a gentle ode to roasted ham. Powerhouse drums precede a huge groove based riff which gives this a glam-cum-funk sound which the slathered organ only helps as you are transported back to the 70s. The engine of this song, however, is rage at how the UK is being politically and culturally dragged back to the 70s and the anger in the vocals helps to communicate very effectively. Think Joan Jett fronting an American version of Slade singing a song penned by Billy Bragg and you're getting there - it's a funk fuelled revolution and I'm happy to wave the flag with my comrades.
