THE UNDERCOVER HIPPY - SINGLE REVIEW

The Undercover Hippy - Greed (Uncivil
Records)

Release Date: Out Now

If you haven't come across the Undercover Hippy yet then I fear you may have been living under a rock or at the very least not supporting your local live venue because this is one of the UK's most consistently touring acts. New single 'Greed' is very much on brand as a mid-tempo acoustic skank gets things going before the spoken-word rap joins in very much in the vein of Samantics, Mr B. the Gentleman Rhymer and Beans on Toast. Lyrically, this is a direct attack on the Boris Johnson government and how they treated musicians during the COVID lock-down. Throw in some rich horns, a rat-a-tat beat and erudite vocals which brilliantly send up BoJo in an impression-rich break down. Essential listening for anyone pissed off with the Tory government (and actually, if you're not pissed off then you're probably not paying attention and need to listen to this even more).
