Overcoats - New Suede Shoes

'New Suede Shoes' is the latest gorgeous release from one of my favourite finds of 2023, Overcoats. The pair's tight and rich vocal harmonies get things going with a blend of country, pop and alt-pop all wrapped up in a sense of sadness and pathos. There are obvious parallels to be drawn with First Aid Kit (no bad thing) but the Overcoats sound leans more heavily on the pop side of things and the rocky guitar solo could easily come from a Miley Cyrus track so there is more than enough to set these two apart from any peers.
