JEAN GENIE'S MASSIVE HUGS - SINGLE REVIEW

Jean Genie's Massive Hugs - Ray of Hope (Ferret Forever)

Release Date: Out Now

The live music industry is in trouble for a whole host of reasons that I won't go in to right now (if you don't know, Google it) so it's vital that we support artists but also the venues that struggle to give them a platform. So, the legendary Preston venue the Ferret is in need of help right now and Jean Genie's Massive Hugs have put out new single 'Ray of Hope' to raise awareness and, if you can spare it, some funds. An itchy, garage-punk riff gets things going before the indie-soul vocals join in, punctuated by the odd drum crash. There are 90s indie vibes from the likes of My Vitriol, Lush and Veruca Salt - all bands who would have come up through just such venues in the past. Think about that....
