ALICE PISANO - EP REVIEW

Alice Pisano - Shattered But Still Cool

Release Date: Out Now

Everything about Anglo-Italian solo artist Alice Pisano oozes glamour, charm and class and that has never been more true than on new EP 'Shattered But Still Cool'. The five track collection opens with 'Boys Like You' bubbles and shimmies with coy energy before the beat kicks in and it starts to sound like a mix of Taylor Swift, Mimi Webb and Natalie Shay with that 80s inspired contemporary vibe. 'Ink' has a more subdued vibe initially but, again, comes to life with a Katy Perry sound heavy on the playful and child-like melodies.

The mid EP track 'Where My Heart Is' gives us a pause in energy with a delicate ballad that is all the more powerful for the the simple piano melody and sparse beat under Pisano's raw and honest but oh-so-sweet vocal. 'Pretty Girls', by contrast, is a strident and unashamed pop banger that is tailor made for a road trip through the city at night. The EP closes out with an acoustic, piano lead version of 'Where My Heart Is' that, somehow, finds even more beauty in simplicity. Alice Pisano is one of a clutch of brilliantly talented solo artists coming out of the UK at the moment and her mix of style and substance is going to be hard to beat but it's not a competition, is it?
