The topic of this track means that this release from Softcult comes with a trigger warning around sexual assault which it seems only right I pass on to you. However, that said, 'Dress' is also an extremely important song (and video) that tells a story that will be horrifyingly familiar to all women and many men out there today. Urgent, Pixies inspired guitars and driving drums get the song going with the opening line "It's a dress, not a 'yes', not a fucking invitation" setting the lyrical tone. The grunge undertones and pop overtones make for a powerful combination but it is the stark honesty of the lyrics and video that make this such a powerful and necessarily hard hitting release.
