Twins Mercedes and Phoenix Arn-Horn are the shining lights of brilliance behind Softcult and that brilliance has seen them hand-picked for support slots with Muse and Incubus which is a very good sign in my book. The new single 'Drain' features huge sounding and anthemic riffs mixed perfectly with a post-grunge energy that takes influences from the likes of Veruca Salt and the Breeders and adds a polish that could easily see them getting a lot of air time on both sides of the Atlantic. This is my first encounter with Softcult's music but I sincerely hope it's not the last.
