This song was written during the pandemic but that doesn't necessarily mean that the theme of 'Lost Years' is all about the inertia of lockdown. Puma June opens with gentle, lonely piano notes and her soft, vulnerable voice nudged along by the barest of beats expressing a bare emotion about feeling stuck and held back. "These are the lost years of my life" she sings as strings swell the melody in the chorus and if you're in reflective or regretful mood then this one may bring a lump to your throat or a tear to your eye. Simple and sparse but no less beautiful for it.
