LOUIS DUNFORD - SINGLE REVIEW

Louis Dunford - The Boy Who Could Fly (RCA
Records)

Release Date: Out Now

2022 has been a bit of a landmark year for North Londoner Louis Dunford and I'd love to say that he's closing out the year on a triumphant high but, as usual, he's thrown us a curve ball. 'The Boy Who Could Fly' is a delicate and typically beautiful song about suicide and how it impacts not just families and friends but whole communities. Softly rippling acoustic strings and sprinkled piano notes are given warmth by comforting strings swoons and you feel safe in the company of this music. Dunford's voice is suitably calming and soothing but the lyrical content speaks of young men who can't reconcile themselves with an unkind world and the only freedom they can find is in the quick release of death - regardless of what it leaves behind. Be kind to those that need it, it's a tough old world out there.
