"I wanted to kiss you last night but I was afraid" is the opening line of Jessica Wilde's new single 'Kissing My Best Friend' and it sounds innocent enough but there's a twist. The ominously lurching piano melody and Jazz inspired drumming underpin a spoken word stream of consciousness that is feverish and barely holding on to logic but captivating nonetheless. The dark and twisted energy of this track mixed with the switching between sweet vocals and direct rapped lyrics makes for such an enveloping, intense and honest experience that everything else in the world stops for the three and a half minutes of its existence. This is how art is supposed to sound.
