They might look like a couple of blokes waiting for the pub to open but Blitz Vega are something of a supergroup with Andy Rourke of the Smiths and Kav of the Happy Mondays drafting in Johnny Marr of, well, Johnny Marr for this track. 'Strong Forever', however, is no ponderous, self-indulgent noodling which is so often the fare of those in the later stages of their career. The Manchester sound runs through this in every loose beat and every layered vocal with the jangling guitars and uplifting vibes carrying this one shoulder high through the city centre. This was originally written for a campaign against discrimination in football, it still works as a stand alone song and will have people reaching for their bucket hats and baggy jeans.
