MERYL STREEK - SINGLE REVIEW

Meryl Streek - Death To The Landlord (Venn
Records)

Release Date: Out Now

It's no surprise that the anger levels in the music popping in to my inbox is rising rapidly considering everything that is wrong with the world at the moment but that anger doesn't always equate to great music. Fortunately, the excellently named Meryl Streek have combined rage with quality songwriting on new single, 'Death To The Landlord'. The moody guitars and bass are punctuated with a fantastic drum sound as the tension builds for nearly a minute before the opening line cuts through like a knife, "You've lied so much you're teeth are rotten" in brilliant juxtaposition to the strings carrying the melody. The ranted instructions are delivered with the anger and bile of bitter experience with an exceptional video to accompany it. When the art starts refleting the mood of the nation then you know things are serious but you also know there is hope. The revolution is building.
