LOOSE ARTICLES - EP REVIEW

Loose Articles - Chaos EP (Alcopop! Records)

Release Date: Out Now

As the last dregs of summer disappear down the drain of autumn it feels only right that we have one last blast of sunshine and Loose Articles are just the band to provide with their new EP, 'Chaos'. The first of the four tracks is the title track 'Chaos' which is actually pretty tight, focused and punchy despite its name but the chance of tempo about a quarter of the way through sounds like an early Arctic Monkeys track but with a more punk attitude in the vocals. 'Eggshells' has a similarly poppy and raw vibe as the bass pings and the guitars scratch in between blasts from some hidden laser blaster.

On the brilliantly named 'Dirty Dick's Food and Ale Emporium' has a more lurching energy as though its getting home late having to negotiate the milkman and try not to wake the neighbours as it fumbles for its keys. The EP closes off with the cult football anthem 'Kick Like A Girl' which brought a touch of cool and indie kitsch to the Euro 2022 championships this summer. Loose Articles are such a fabulously free and wonderfully wild band that I urge you to let in to your life before you miss the boat entirely.
