I've always admired P!NK for her willingness to use her platform to speak out in her music so I was pleased as punch when I recieved her new single 'Irrelevant' in my inbox. In typical fashion, this track starts with a simple melody and pounding beat with P!NK's voice ringing out like a beacon of light in the all encompassing darkness. Of course, the chorus explodes with an energy tailor-made for getting the crowd going but that's not really the point. This is a musical message that P!NK and millions more of us have had enough of people (mostly white men, let's face it) making decisions for people that didn't elect them, choose them or even want them. "Girls just wanna have rights, so why do we still have to fight?" is the kind of lyric that you might have expected to hear from the Indigo Girls and it would have been great but P!NK has a bigger platform and this still sounds incredible. Listen up, powers that be, the kids are not alright....
