Although hailing from Amsterdam, Pitou sounds like a Parisian chanteuse and new single 'Big Tear' is a new take on that genre. A quirky melody and throbbing bass line trying to hold on to the lurching beat all create a scattered bed of leaves for Pitou's voice to lay upon. Vocally, this is somewhere between Zoe Johnston and Sia but with Audrey Tautou's Amelie providing inspiration in terms of tone and that unpredictability comes through in the arresting video as well. Thoroughly enthralling and entirely absorbing.
