When I get sent releases by British artists who are living and making a career in another country it always puts me in mind of English footballers heading abroad to play the beautiful game. In this case, Joe Wilkinson has headed off to Spain and is releasing 'Water to Wine' soon as a new single. With a very Jose Gonazalez vibe, Wilkinson sets about an undulating and charming melody with understated vocals and an unassuming style. There's a late night intimacy to this which draws you in like a moth to flame and I keep coming back for more.
