London/Leeds combo Ten Hands High have tapped in to a very British indie sound with new single 'Meet Me By the Apple Tree' and I love it. The chiming, jangling guitars have a real 80s indie vibe while the understated vocals are as stylish as they are gorgeous. There's a dreamy, middle of summer tone to the melodies and the bass bubbles like tarmac under the heatwave sun to give you a feeling of freedom and endless time. Sure, there's a lot of shit going on in the world and I do love me a good protest song but sometimes it's important to just escape it all for a while and that's exactly what this song provides. Glorious escapsim.
