Edinburgh's Calum Mason is a true independent artist which is never an easy thing but sometimes the pressure of that kind of situation squeezes out a diamond like this new single 'Polar Bear'. Rolling piano notes that sound like the opening of curtains on a sunny morning are soon joined by a rattling beat and Mason's gorgeous vocals that flow and meander like fresh spring water finding it's way downstream. Elements of folk, prog, blues and pop all blend beautifully to create the kind of sound you just want to lose yourself in and that is a precious gift these days.
