As you might expect from a song called 'Doom & Bloom', there's a slightly gloomier vibe to this latest release from Surrey trio Dude Safari and with good reason - frontman Jamie Tipson recently lost his mother and the band needed to grieve personally and musically. That grief really comes through in the groundshaking power of a song that feels like a howl in to the night sky full of words that are being spoken too late for the intended ears. The sheer weight of this song is almost impressive but the band are nimble enough to stop it from crushing you and there are nods to early Dinosaur Pile-Up tracks that really hook you in. Ma Tipson would be proud. RIP.
