Katy Hurt - Face To Face

I'm not sure how she's done it but Katy Hurt has pulled of something quite special on her new single. 'Face To Face' is a laconic and mournful melody with the British country singer's trademark vocal that sounds like a younger, fresher Dolly Parton and that's all entirely expected. However, the guitar work sounds like it should be coming from the corner of a piazza in rural Italy, the songwriting feels like a French chanson and the lyrics have that timeless quality that would put you in mind of Vera Lynn. A song about missing that physical interaction with a loved one and the phone not being enough for the modern age. Beautiful and classic.
