Jamie Yost - One Of A Kind

There are two parts to this latest release from Plymouth based soul-troubadour Jamie Yost but, as always, we will start with the music. 'One Of A Kind' is a beautifully emotional and soulful ode to the challenges of single parenthood and, indeed, to Yost's own mother who must surely be bursting with pride at this release. The rippling, country style acoustic melody is underpinned by atmospheric piano chords before that unmistakable, husky voice joins in telling stories of the hard times that have been endured with grace and a smile. The song builds to a triumphant and celebratory rock ballad and you can feel the gratitude and love in every note from the guitar and every word of the lyrics.
The second part of this release is that Yost has tied it in with raising awareness and funds for the Gingerbread charity which exists to provide practical support and guidance to single parents in need. There's a video coming soon to complete the triangle of this release but for now you'll have to make do with a raw and heartfelt song paired with the very best of intentions.
