IdaBjorg – You Make Me Proud To Be A

It’s not often you get a song about
female empowerment from a Danish-Icelandic singer-songwriter dressed in a
sequined onesie and holding an octopus. In fact, I firmly suspect this is the
first time I have received such a submission. Nevertheless, IdaBjorg releases ‘You
Make Me Proud To Be A Woman’ and all of the peripheral stuff just melts away. A
thumping beat and bass line is smoothed out by soft vocals and then some sparse
guitar notes before the song swells in to something that wouldn’t be out of
place in a Fleetwood Mac set but with a more modern approach to the
arrangements. Sumptuous stuff.
