BERRY GALAZKA – EP REVIEW

Berry Galazka – Man Can’t Hang, Ain’t Part Of
The Gang EP (Sweat Entertainment)

Release Date: Out Now

The excellent Berry Galazka has finally released her ‘Man Can’t Hang, Ain’t Part Of The Gang’ EP and it honestly makes me want to go to the pub and listen to her tell stories. The journey begins with ‘Man Can’t Hang’ which introduces us to Galazka’s rapid verse flow and her smooth Kelis-esque chorus vocals. ‘Marisa’ has a wonky children’s TV melody with a schoolyard rhyme vibe but lyrics like “I was eight years old when I choked that bitch” let you know that this is no innocent tune for little kids. On ‘LA ME’, things slow down for a minute (literally) as Galazka sings “Your Gemini is showing” and “you wear Gucci and you talk about it” with a withering tone.

‘Fran Fine’ brings back the fighting spirit with a song that is full of confidence, big beats and the kind of lyrics that Lizzo would kill for; “I look good at every angle”, for example. The EP finishes up with ‘No Effect’, a track that is more like a traditional R&B slow jam than the rest of the collection but still has that distinct Berry Galazka vibe to it. We are talking about a very special and unique artist with a superbly distinctive take on the world and that is something to be celebrated.
