THE ANDY QUICK BAND – SINGLES REVIEW

The Andy Quick Band – Long Face / Kapital
K / Standby For The Night

Release Date: Out Now

First things first, these tracks are hard to categorise because they’re technically released as videos which you can find on the band’s Facebook page. But I’m here to LISTEN (hence the name of the blog) so let’s dive in, ears first. ‘Long Face’ is up first and opens with a sultry bass line before jumping into life for the kind of tune that is made for festivals and twirling, spinning crowds with big grins on their faces as the drums snap, the keys wash and the guitar stabs.

On ‘Kapital K’ the four members of the Andy Quick Band kick the energy up a notch with a William the Conqueror vibe that is rootsy, bluesy and has an achingly satisfying chug to it. The third of these tracks is ‘Standby For The Night’, a track that is full of sundowner vibes and flickering flames on a beach as this one reaches out through the night air to intoxicate and tempt you. These tracks are slick but raw, effortless but poised and so full of hooks they may well be in danger of breaking some new fishing laws. With more new material on the horizon as well, these troubadours are in fine shape indeed.
