Dutch-British song writer Someone (aka Tessa Rose Jackson)
has one of the most soothing voices you are likely to come across in this
lifetime. ‘Strang World’ is as dreamy and dreamlike as you could hope for as gently
sprinkled melodies fall on a carpet of marshmallows, slowed by tiny parachutes
made of lace. Somehow, within this environment, Someone manages to weave a
sense of energy and optimism as she sings “I won’t let it get me down” and
strings swell and swoon to her command. If Roald Dahl’s Matilda grew up and
made music in a cottage on her own I feel like this is what it might sound like
and I am up for that in a big way.
