Tiny Dyno – So Far Away

There are strong 80s vibes to the
start of the new single by Bristol duo Tiny Dyno to the point where I thought I
was listening to Springsteen’s ‘Dancing In the Dark’ but things soon evolve. ‘So
Far Away’ has a pulsing bass line and driving beat that makes you want to get
in a car and drive across the city lines but the sweeping synths and clean pop
vocals give the tune more depth and emotion. There are flashes of early 70s
synth pop and then a searing guitar solo that threatens to explode before
dropping off a cliff edge (in cinematic terms, this is the slow-mo bit where
the car you’re in makes the improbably jump over an open bridge or a barrier of
police cars). Needless to say, this track saves the day, gets the girl and does
is with jacket sleeve rolled up and high-volume hair. Nice.
