Yinyang is the pseudonym of Irish
Hip-Hop artist Lauren Hannan and, based on her new single, you’re going to want
to get to know her music. ‘Bloodhound/Earthbound’ has a dark underbelly with an
ominously stomping beat and bass combo with Yinyang’s steely eyed, gritted
teeth vocal rolling over the top with an unmistakable Irish accent. There is
anger and frustration in every breath on this but that is matched by the
orchestration and melodies that are not just ambitious, they are biblical. This
feels like turning up for an argument armed to the teeth with an arsenal of weaponry
– not a tune to follow down a dark alley.
