from the Underground Youth and I really can’t overstate how impressive this
band are and how exciting their music is. ‘Letter From A Young Lover’ is played
out slowly and deliberately on a piano that is recorded in all its raw and
chiming beauty while the low vocals sing mournfully from the shadows in the corner.
On paper, this is a menacing track but when you hear it, there is a sense of
vulnerability and fragility as those rattling piano notes go round and round.
There is tension, electricity crackling and it all comes to a head with the
chiming of church bells and long hard stares in the middle distance. This is
not just music, this is art.
