When the press blurb describes a
song as a cross between Ace of Base and the X-Files, it is pretty hard to not
check out the tune and see if it lives up to the hype. The tune in question is
the new single ‘Bleu’ from Pillow Person (aka drummer extraordinaire Sarah
Jones) and it instantly brings the spooky X-Files vibes with a childlike melody
over running water before blossoming in to a woozy but perky euro-pop meets
Dalston hangout tune. There is soul in the vocals and the beats are, as you
might expect, hypnotic but it is the way this song seems to appear slowly out
of the early morning haze in to sharp focus. But in your ears.
