Phobophobes – I Mean It All (Modern Sky)

There is an entirely wholistic
approach to this release which blends a great band name, nostalgic video and
superb song to create the whole package. Phobophobes employ woozy, lo-fi, Avalanches-esque
melodies on ‘I Mean It All’ and match them with dirty, confessional vocals that
you might expect from Eels or LCD Soundsystem in a particularly low mood. The video
is, seemingly, some vintage cinefilm footage of a party somewhere in the UK
where folks dance in perfectly manicured, high walled gardens as the organ
playing becomes increasingly intense and this starts to feel like the Wicker
Man after party.
