Maisie Waterhouse is a
singer-songwriter from Devon unleashing her debut single, ‘Kitchen Tiles’, on
the world for your enjoyment. A slow and lamenting acoustic strum gets us off
to shuffling start before Waterhouse’s dusky vocals join in and the drums start
to kick with each beat. This is luxurious and smoky stuff with hints of Lana
Del Rey and Amy Winehouse in the vocals but also Jeff Buckley and Leonard Cohen
in the music and arrangements. Sure, this is a bit raw in places but for the debut
release by a solo artist I think this is incredibly ambitious and mature already
which bodes well for the future.
