Kestrel Palace – Get Up!

This is the debut single from
Manchester’s Kestrel Palace who either has cruel parents or mis-read the name
of a certain South London football team. Either way, the 18-year-old has impressed
me with his debut single ‘Get Up!’ which gets right down to business with a
bone rattling rock’n’roll tune and lines about “mary jane” and how “my guitar
is itching”. This is everything you want from indie-rock with the energy of a
teenager waiting to be released from a national lockdown. There are parallels
with early Oasis which you would perhaps expect from the young Mancunian but
there is more urgency, vim, and punk energy here than the Gallaghers ever
mustered.
