Jacko Hooper – This Was the Earth
Release Date: 12th March 2021
Brighton’s Jacko Hooper has a
truly unique style of song writing that I can’t help but bring to your ears. ‘This
Was the Earth’ starts with a gently strummed acoustic guitar and Hooper’s
vocals which operate at the higher end of the vocal register before some lush
and luxurious drums join in to fill out the sound. As the chorus approaches, we
get some tense guitar chords and some wonderfully honest lyricism and all of
this rawness and luxury swirls around like someone pulling themselves in two
over a fundamental fork in the road of their life. The video is brilliantly apt
with dancing rabbits, confetti and an enthralling performance from Hooper
himself. The pretender to the Young Knives throne and that is a huge compliment
coming from me.
