There’s a light, bubbling energy
to this new release from George Eve that instantly draws you in to his world. ‘Gates’
builds from a Jack Johnson-esque strummed melody to add in some Jamie T beats’n’charm
before Eve’s vocals do that things of sound raw and emotional at the same time
as confident and assured. The horn addition to the chorus and the chest beating
middle eight are just classy additions, as is the video montage of clips from before
the pandemic came to town and we could party, hug, roam the streets without
masks and generally have fun without thinking too hard about it. Great tune to get
your Spring/Summer started.
