Kijera – I Don’t Mind

Plymouthian solo artist Kijera is
new to my ears but I’m pleased to be able to share him with you. ‘I Don’t Mind’
is the last single to come from Kijera’s ‘Suffix’ EP and opens with the kind of
sinister guitars I haven’t heard since System of a Down emerged way back when.
Kijera’s voice is reminiscent of a certain Mr Cobain doing his more intimate stuff
(think ‘Pennyroyal Tea’ on MTV Unplugged) and the way he uses that guitar sound
and that voice to create doomy soundscapes is truly a thing of wonder. The song
climaxes with a glorious grunge clash and I’m not sure I’ve missed being at a
gig more during the last 18 months.
