Cilla Raie – Motives

There’s a bit of a trend at the moment for sparse tunes with
lots of space in them but this new track from London’s Cilla Raie has a bass
line that fills in every gap like treacle oozing through Swiss cheese and it is
incredibly satisfying. ‘Motives’ struts with big time attitude as Raie’s smooth
and assured breathy vocal breezes throughout the tune giving a delicious
juxtaposition of this big, meaty tune and a voice that wouldn’t melt butter.
This wouldn’t sound out of place on a Beyonce album or an Ariana Grande live
show and that’s definitely meant as a compliment – this track has big time,
mainstream energy.
